symposium: SOLD OUT!
How can we more frequently employ art and culture in addressing societal challenges? This question will be the focal point of the Blikopener Symposium on Friday, June 7th, from 3:00 PM to 6:30 PM. What role do artists play in societal challenges? Together, we'll create new perspectives. To do so, we'll take you through our co-creations: projects where artists and social designers collaborate with people from Groningen on a socio-cultural issue.
At the Blikopener Symposium, artists and participants will share their experiences. What challenges do they face? What results does their approach yield? Anke Coumans, lecturer in Image in Context at Hanze University of Applied Sciences Groningen, will reflect on their methodology. What can we learn from the imagination and shaping abilities of artists and participants? Chef Annemiek van der Meijden will provide a delicious dinner inspired by the themes from the co-creations.
These themes will be addressed:
Mental health among youth
Growing inequality
Personal experience of public space
Prejudice and stereotyping
Broken connections between city and countryside
During the symposium and festival, we will gather inspiration and experiences together. We'll capture these experiences and warmly invite you to a follow-up session on Thursday, June 27th. In this session, we'll collectively explore the next steps we can take regarding these themes. We'll share the initial results of our impact research: what were the effects of the co-creations on the participants? Help us, from your own practice, to take the next step!
Tickets
For the symposium, we request a contribution of 40 euros. In return, you will receive food, drinks, and access to the festival.
